Readathon

Back in July, we had a Readathon Challenge for 2 weeks. Sponsor money was raised from donations from relatives, neighbours and friends for the reading children completed.

We wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored our children and helped raise a fantastic £305.

This amount has enabled us to purchase a brilliant new bookcase for the story corner to allow children to pick and choose the books they would like to look at and read. 17/10/21

Statement from the new EYFS (2021)

"Reading frequently to children, and engaging them actively in stories, non-fiction, rhymes and poems, and then providing them with extensive opportunities to use and embed new words in a range of contexts, will give children the opportunity to thrive."

Harvest Time

This week we welcomed Reverand Vince Short to the pre-school from St Mary's Church in Tatsfield.

The Reverand visited the children to talk about Harvest and it's importance. They sung songs together including some of our favourites and we learnt some new ones. Rev Short also thanked the children for their generous harvest donations that our families have been dropping off all week so a big thank you to everyone who has donated items. 29/09/21

Author and Tatsfield Aquatics Visit

Each week we share weekly stories with the children and have lots of activities linked to the story for them to explore.

This week we welcomed back local author, Janice Akhtar. The theme for our week focused on Construction & Insects so Janice joined us to read 'Flap your Wings' to the children. We were thrilled to welcome Janice back as the children love to listen to her at story time.

We also had a visit from lots of mini beasts, including wax worms, meal worms, woodlice, a black scorpion and a tarantula. Children had the opportunity to touch and hold the mini beasts and ask questions and learn lots of facts from our expert, Lisa from Tatsfield Aquatics.

Thank you to these local people and businesses for supporting Little Acorns and providing these opportunities. 28/09/21

New Outdoor Play Area

Our Outdoor Play Area received a makeover during the May Half Term!

Little Acorns is thrilled to have a new colourful flooring with different designs and features to make it a wonderful outdoor space for children to play.

It is now a fantastic space with an array of colours with a blue and green base floor and a bright hopscotch and mixture of shapes dotted around.

We would like to thank all our parents and carers for their amazing support and fundraising in making these changes possible. 07/06/21
